2012 Scholarship Awarded to Bidwell Elementary School!

Congratulations Bidwell Elementary School on receiveing the 2012 Apple Tree Scholarship!

Bidwell School was a fitting receipient this year in memory of Harry Johnson.  Harry taught at Bidwel during the 1980's where students still remember being in his classroom, where hard work was rewarded in many unique ways.  "Mr. Johnson" motivated his class with daily magic tricks and an engaging curriculum.  We are happy to share his legacy by awarding Bidwell School with a scholarship benefiting students in grades K-5.

Bidwell held a special assembly on Feb. 14th, 2013 focusing on health, nutrition, and staying active with a jump rope expert who motivated and educated students with her talent!  Photos to come!

Congratulations 2011 Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to Mindy Dent at Berrendoes Middle School and Judy Spencer at Salisbury High School!

Mindy is an 8th Grade U.S. History teacher who is looking forward to her students participating in National History Day. Students will present various projects that fit their current theme of "Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History." The students will have the opportunity to compete at the state level where they will demonstrate research skills, analysis, and draw historical conclusions based on team projects.

Judy is the REACH teacher at her high school and teaches 20 at risk students. She will use her funds to assist in the WorkAbility Program where students learn life and work skills. Typically her students volunteer in these positions. As students are placed in a work program, she would like the students to continue with volunteer hours, but after several months demonstrating a successful work ethic, she would pay them $8.00 an hour for 4 hours a week for two or three months. Their employers would then add the students to their payroll after successfully completing their workplace skills.

It has been wonderful to see the many different ways that children of all ages and backgrounds can benefit from the scholarship fund. We look forward to keeping you updated with pictures and stories from students and teachers who have benefitted from your contributions!

Thank you for your interest in "The Apple Tree Scholarship Fund!"

Congratulations Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to our 2010 Scholarship Recipients!

Mr. Brad Wagner was awarded $500.00 for his students at Red Bluff Union High School. Mr. Wagner is the Advisor and Co-Founder of KRBH FM 93.1 Spartan Radio, and is also a Business and Computer Science teacher. His student run radio station will be broadcasting and benefiting from the awarded funds.

Ms. Darlene Martinson, Ms. Tamara Mungia, and Ms. Jackie Jacobs were also awarded a $500.00 scholarship for their 2nd grade classes at Antelope School. Due to state budget reductions, the school district can no longer supply transportation for student field trips. The 2nd grade teachers will use the funds for busing so that 3 2nd grade classes can take a field trip as part of their History Unit.

Please visit us again for updates on our recipients, and photos of their classes benefiting from the funds you have so generously donated. To make a donation to benefit students in Tehama County, please see the link to the right.
